About the Creator of the Wild Focus Project

Emma Hanisch is a science communication master's student at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Originally from Glenn Dale, Maryland, she's traveled extensively and has yet to find a place she doesn't like. Emma picked up photography as a hobby as a teenager, and now takes photos almost everywhere she goes. Some of her goals include photographing African wild dogs and Pallas cats in the wild, and visiting every country in the world at least once (she's checked off 27 so far).

Emma is interested in a wide variety of science topics, including environmental science, conservation, biology, psychology, anthropology, astronomy, and geology (and science fiction). She also likes writing about those things for a wide variety of audiences, as well as non-scientific creative writing.
