Searching for images

Searching for a wildlife species is easy: simply type the common name such as ‘New Zealand pigeon’ or in relevant cases the Maori name e.g: ‘Keruru’ and all the relevant images will be listed below.  If you would like to find a species exhibiting particular behaviour such as feeding, please add this to your search e.g: ‘oystercatcher feeding’.

Please search the galleries to find the ideal image for your purposes, such as behaviour, background colour or habitat.

As the library is brand new, there are species we have yet to shoot – if you can provide opportunities for us to get new images please contact us.

How to order an image

To order a picture file, simply fill in the image code – a five digit number located above the image, and select the most relevant use from the drop-down list. Once your order has been received we will be in touch to confirm the size, resolution and fees (if any) and then assist you with a high-resolution download.

FAQ

Why are the pictures ‘ watermarked’?

Although we often provide many images with no fees to conservation organisations, we watermark our shots to avoid abuse of copyright by third parties. Of course any high-resolution images purchased will be free of watermarking. Until we have a functioning log-in and lightbox system, please contact us for comping images.

Image resolution and colour profile

Your final image will be provided as a jpeg, pre-sized to your requirements and at 300dpi (unless for web use) with an sRGB colour profile (unless specified other e.g. CMYK). Small size files will be supplied via e-mail with others made available through a web-based download or on disk. All images are shot with 10MP digital SLR cameras and professional Canon and Nikon lenses for the highest quality file.

What rights do you I have over an image?

All individual images are ‘rights-managed’, this means that an image can only be used for a specific purpose e.g: for a front cover of a brochure or to accompany a press release. Any further use of the same image for a different purpose must be approved prior to use, and if an image is found to have been used without approval this will be considered a breach of copyright.

Credits and copyright

All images remain the copyright of Wild Focus and the individual photographer. Unless in pre-agreed circumstances, any image used must be appropriately credited within the publication/website/display/press article etc within which it is shown.
